Our Campus
Saint Aidan's School includes four large separate classrooms. Each classroom
has ample natural light and an adjacent outdoor patio for crafts and
activities. The spacious play yard overlooks the Pacific ocean and has
several climbing structures, swings, slides, monkey bars, tricycles,
and shade trees. There is plenty of room for active play.
We are fortunate to have a favorable climate, so the children enjoy the outdoors year round.
The school grounds are fenced and gated for the security of our students. Parents of attending students are welcome to drop-in at any time. An appointment is required for all others to visit our campus.
Tipashumawish Garden
A large raised bed area, the Tipashumawish Garden is a garden classroom. Here the children learn a variety of earth sciences through hands-on experiences. The name of the garden is the Chumash Indian word for "peace." The garden was installed in 2006 and opened with a blessing by Chumash elder and storyteller Alan Spirit Hawk Salazar.
Remember Me Wall
Adjacent to the entrance of the school is the Remember Me Wall. This children's artistic tile wall was unveiled by the class of 2006. The heading reads, "I will remember you, will you remember me?" Each year, graduating Armadillo and Dolphin students paint a tile. The set of class tiles are then mounted to the wall. The wall reflects their creativity and allows each child to leave their permanent stamp on a school that has created so many wonderful memories for them. The tradition was developed by the Aragon family. With three children attending Saint Aidan's School, the Aragons wanted to commemorate their children's graduations with something they could both look forward to and look back on, with pride. The heading painting was done and donated by Jeannie Masin-Leonardo.
Mural
Facing the garden, and shown above as the page banner, is a mural covering the entire west wall of the school. The armadillo, bumblebees, dolphins, and chipmunk in the mural represent the four classes of Saint Aidan's students. The banner reads, "There is no rushing in the garden. Everything grows at its own pace." Along the bottom are flowers painted by each student with a photo of that student in the center. Inspired by the success and lasting impression of the Remember Me Wall, the Aragon Family donated this mural designed and painted by local artist Jeannie Masin-Leonardo in 2006. Jeannie has four children who attended Saint Aidan's School.
Saint Aidan's School is an important part of the early life of its students and their families. We strive to create an experience that is enriching and memorable.
